Position: Flower Farm Team Member
Farm: Homefield Flower Farm
Location: Hemmingford, near Montréal, Quebec

Eligibility: 30 or younger 
Renting a room on the farm is available, otherwise applicants should live nearby or be willing to travel.

About Us:

Homefield Flower Farm is in Hemmingford, Quebec and responsibly grows cut flowers for Montreal and the surrounding regions. We grow over 50 varieties of flowers to sell to florists, boutiques and direct to the public via farmers markets. We aim to be a sustainable alternative to imported flowers and use all organic growing practices.

We are committed to creating opportunities for young people to enter the burgeoning local floriculture industry, especially youth from groups traditionally margenalized from agriculture in Quebec. (LGBTQ2S, language minority, those who identify as a visible minority)


Project Summary:

We are looking for an employee to assist us in our summer growing season. The employee will work with the owners to seed, cultivate, harvest and sell our flowers. Based on experience and interest, employees may also work towards leading other less experienced volunteers.

*COVID 19: We are closely following regional guidelines. We will provide training and protocol to assure our farm is a safe workplace for all.


Responsibilities will be gained with experience and can be tailored to meet the specific skills, talents and interest of the employee. Basic functions of the position include:

  • Seeding, planting, weeding, fertilizing, irrigating and harvesting
  • Preparing, arranging and packaging flowers for sale
  • Possible opportunity of serving customers at farmers markets

Experience and Qualifications:

This position is a Canada Summer Jobs funded position. To be eligible you must:

  • Be between the ages of 19 and 30 at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the immigration and Refuge Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

The ideal candidate should be:

  • Interested in sustainable agricuture
  • Self motivated
  • A team player
  • Of high work ethic
  • Willing to work outside all day in all weather
  • Physically capable of required tasks
  • Punctual

Farming experience is an asset but not required.

Wage: $15/h
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 hours a day +1 hour unpaid lunch. Lunch is provided. 35 hours a week
