Fat Chance Farmstead is a certified organic farm with two main enterprises: The Food Box program and Strawberry production. The fruit and vegetable farmer will be expected to work interchangeably between these two enterprises.
The Food Box program is an 18 week CSA with 60 members. On Tuesdays from 3-9pm, members pick up their Food Box on the farm, at a market-style table, filling their box with designated amounts of each item. Responsibilities related to the Food Box program:
The strawberry production continues to grow each year and 2021 is no different. There will be over 4 acres of strawberries in various stages of growth in 2021. We provide strawberries through wholesale and individual orders primarily picked up on farm. The farm also operates a very busy strawberry u-pick for several weeks in the early summer. At the peak of the season strawberries are harvested three times per week. The farmer will be responsible for planting, pruning, weeding and harvesting strawberries throughout the season.
The farmer will be working alongside the owner/operator, Josh Suppan, during most hours but there will be some independent work as well. Plenty of direction and support will be provided along with the opportunity to take a lead role on certain aspects of the farm.
Fat Chance Farmstead has been in operation since 2012 and has grown significantly in the last couple years since moving to the current location. Depending on timing and level of interest, the fruit and vegetable farmer could be involved in building projects, general land care, heavy equipment operation, new infrastructure and maintenance in addition to the regular responsibilities outlined above.
