Start Date: Mid May 2022
End Date: Mid October 2022 (negotiable)
30 hours/week $17/hour plus access to vegetables

About Our Farm:
Soil Mates Farm is a first-generation mixed vegetable farm, in our 7th season of operation in beautiful Barss Corner, Located on Nova Scotia's South Shore. We are passionate about feeding ourselves, our community and our soil. Our mission is to grow beautiful, healthy food in an ecologically responsible manner.

Job Description & Responsibilities:
We are seeking dynamic candidates interested in expanding their knowledge and understanding of organic farming and food production. Individuals who are self-motivated, able to successfully communicate as part of a team and are willing to engage in physical work outdoors in all conditions with a positive attitude are best suited. Successful candidates are expected to assist with a broad range of tasks including but not limited to: weeding, transplanting, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and a variety of other tasks throughout the course of the season.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Self-motivated
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather
• Punctual
• Previous experience working in a fast pace environment is an asset.
• Physically fit and able to lift 50lbs comfortably.

• Previous experience in agriculture, particularly organic agriculture is an asset.
• Previous experience doing outdoor and/or manual labour also an asset, but if you have a willingness to learn we will train you!

Housing: If you are looking for accommodations in the area, there are some rental options we can provide.

Preference will be given to candidates under 30 who are unemployed and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally entitled to work in Canada, as the position is funded through the CSJ and YESP programs.
