ORGANIC / SUSTAINABLE GARDENING

Position: Edible Gardener / Expert Food Grower

Our team of builders, growers, & creative minds, craft cedar self-watering garden beds for urban food growth.

We are looking for an experienced gardener who is passionate about growing food. Responsibilities include garden maintenance, client education and community engagement. This individual should be hard-working with a positive attitude who works well independently and as part of a team.

HOURS & LOCATION

• Seasonal full time position (April - September).
• Typical hours: M-F 8 a.m. - 4 p.m
• Work in our North Vancouver office and client garden sites throughout the Lower Mainland.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance & Education

• Maintain client gardens including planting, pest management, weeding, harvesting, and creating/following garden maps and plans
• Work with residential / commercial clients to provide garden support and education services
• Create positive and ongoing relationships with clients and their gardens

Community Engagement

• Work with community to provide garden knowledge and support, such as participation in targeted educational events
• Provide regular maintenance to the community garden district in Lower Lonsdale. Actively provide encouragement and support regarding food growing initiatives to this community.
• Demonstrate creativity in engaging with stakeholders and communities

Edible Garden Installations

• Assist with planting and installation of gardens including assembly, lifting, soil, digging, watering, and clean up

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Class 5 drivers license is a must, vehicle is an asset
• Edible gardening experience is preferred.
• Familiar with organic and sustainable garden practices
• Enjoys working outdoors, rain or shine
• Use of garden tools and moderate to heavy lifting is required (e.g. lift 30 lb. bag of soil)
• Excellent verbal communication skills
