VEGETABLE FARMING

Position: Part-time farm hand/ collaborator
Farm: Belle-Isle Farm
Location: Victoria, BC

Belle-Isle Farm is a 1 acre market garden tucked against the North Side of Mount PKOLS.

We grow a wide seasonal variety of fruits and vegetables, using all organic inputs and practices (but without a certification).

We are committed to being a queer farm and continuously working towards creating space in agriculture for queer and trans bodies to exist.

We also want to acknowledge the role of colonial agriculture in the active colonization of these unceded Lekwungen territories, and in particular our position as settlers farming on the land of the W?SÁNE? people. As settlers on these lands, we are in the process of learning how we can grow and tend to this garden while trying to figure out how to decolonize farming.
