Position: Farm Store Ambassador

Here at Ottawa Farm Fresh, our tight knit team of world class farmers work together to grow and sell top quality organic food... all this literally minutes from downtown Ottawa.

As Farm Store Client Care Specialist, you will:

  • Arrive before the farm store opening to complete some farm related jobs
  • Set up the farm store in the morning
  • Welcome clients and inspire them with amazing recipes and cool tips for storing and using veggies.
  • Share farm anecdotes with them, teaching people about where food comes from and reconnecting them with nature.
  • Check clients out, upselling, and taking payment.
  • Close the farm store (involves lifting 50 pounds bags and heavy bin repeatedly)
  • Work on the farm one day a week

Required Superpowers:

  • Physical strength and endurance to work in the hot sun, the cold rain, day after day, doing the gloriously repetitive work of growing food. ( and the ability to lift 50 lbs repetitively.)
  • Positive, HIGH VIBE energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of humour!
  • Dynamism and the ability to work a startup environment (ie.. building the airplane as we fly it…) You need to be comfortable with change and a certain degree of organized chaos.
  • Clear and concise communication style.
  • A desire to pay attention to details and to always shift in order to find the best systems in order to support your work and the productivity of the flow of the farm store.
  • Fast, efficient, and ergonomic work ethic.
  • Equanimity and adaptability to thrive in a rapidly evolving, dynamic work environment. That means things (like methods of work, availability of veggies and reorganising the farm store) are constantly evolving and changing.
  • Curiosity and a desire to learn and continuously improve work methods.
  • Bilingualism (english & french) is an asset.

And... Here are a few of the crunchy details

  • May to November, 30-40 hrs/week.
  • Schedule:

    • Thursday 10-7, Friday 10-5, Saturday 8-5, Sunday 10-5
    • Possibly either Wednesdays or Mondays as well
  • Immediate start until October
  • 16$/hr starting wage (depending on skills and experience).
  • A weekly basket of farm-fresh vegetables!
