Position: Direct Sales, Fundraising and Sponsorship Manager

Interfaces with: Quality Control, Production and Purchasing, Category and Distributor Sales Managers and La Siembra’s External Broker Team
Oversees: Customer Service and Order Desk

Incorporated in 1999, La Siembra is one of the first companies to import, manufacture and distribute fair trade & organic sugar and cocoa products in North America. Owned by La Siembra, Camino® is a brand of fair trade & organic consumer products and bulk ingredients sold in over 4000 retail outlets across Canada. La Siembra also proudly distributes Equal Exchange® products from its sister co-op in the US.

Overview

This position will be responsible for servicing and growing La Siembra’s diverse, direct, and wholesale customers and fundraising accounts. From schools to bakeries, natural health stores to retail chains, this is one of La Siembra’s most energetic, interesting sales positions.

La Siembra’s ideal candidate will help Camino clients by providing direction with regards to product mix, pricing and promotion. You will bring a strong understanding of industry trends, Canadian organics, retail sales and a passion for high-quality, organic, fairly traded food.

How you will make contributions that matter

Account Management

  • Build and strengthen relationships across customers, brokers, and fair trade partners
  • Build sales projections within the framework of overall sales department objectives, brand presence, product line development and seasonal sales opportunities
  • Develop customer-specific programs and pricing to drive strong velocity
  • Effectively manage promotional spend and budgets
  • Grow sales of existing accounts through the use of sales and marketing tools including merchandising, product demos, promotional programs, store visits, etc.
  • Manage communication to buyers across all channels as it relates to new product announcements, sales promotions, pricing changes, etc.
  • Work with the sales and marketing team to plan and implement advertising, outreach and industry activities
  • Interface with warehouse team to ensure fulfillment and delivery of orders
  • Work with purchasing and production team to update production and import schedules as needed.
  • Develop and manage collaborative partnerships and ownership of joint business plans with key customers.
  • Perform and evaluate sales data analysis to identify trends and opportunities within existing channels
  • Create and present customer-specific presentations
  • Facilitate idea generation, strategy development, and implementation planning, to continue elevating Camino’s reputation as a fair trade and organic food leader
  • Attend and coordinate designated trade shows, demos and events as needed
  • Travel as required

Sponsorship

  • Evaluate sponsorship opportunities and establish annual budgets for sponsorship activities
  • Respond to requests for sponsorship and assess strategic alignment and marketing opportunity
  • In collaboration with the Marketing Manager, contribute to the development of promotional materials and tools to boost support for Camino supported sponsorships

Innovation and New Product Implementation

  • Contribute to Sales and Marketing Team and New Product Manager in the areas of market knowledge, adequate and timely communication of detailed listing information and timelines to key accounts and supporting new listings with adequate advertising strategy, direct to retailer communication strategies etc.

Customer Service Management

  • Hire and train Customer Service Representatives (CSR).
  • Schedule staffing for order processing, invoicing, and general client and consumer correspondence.
  • Manage and support CSR in order entry and management of order fulfillment and delivery.
  • Triage consumer inquiries and complaints via email and delegate to various department managers.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Fully bilingual in French and English (both written & oral)
  • Excellent organization, presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong project and time management skills with experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service experiences
  • Strong focus on achieving results and a process of continuous improvement
  • Previous experience with sales account management is a requirement
  • Experience managing distributor and/or broker relationships
  • Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, datasets, tableau)
  • Knowledge of SAP or general ERP system experience and Salesforce
  • A passion for supporting fair, healthy, organic food
