Position: Sales & Distribution Coordinator
Organization: Sole Food Farms
Location: Vancouver, BC

Type: Part time/Seasonal (40%). 25-30hrs / week with opportunity to grow

Who We Are:

Sole Food Street Farms is an internationally recognized social enterprise that transforms vacant urban land into street farms.

Our mission is to empower individuals with limited resources by providing jobs, agricultural training and inclusion in a supportive community of farmers and food lovers. Mission-based staff are provided with basic agriculture training and employed at the farm according to their individual ability. Some participants excel in this environment, but the project is intended to allow for the “ups and downs” for people facing multiple barriers such as addiction, mental health issues, poverty, and housing insecurity.

Position Description

The Sole Food Farms Sales and Distribution Coordinator is the traffic director between our farm and restaurant, retail, and non-profit partners. This position is mainly responsible for marketing, sales, distribution and coordinating donations through multiple outlets.

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • At ease with online software platforms
  • Interested in and excited about Sole Food Street Farms' mission.
  • Love working as a team but happy to work independently
  • Creative, flexible problem-solver
  • Understanding of sustainable agriculture and food security issues
  • Experience with wholesale or retail food production and knowledge of the restaurant trade will be valuable.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license is required for this position.
  • Excellent sense of humour

Nice to have:

  • Dynamic social media marketing experience
  • Design/photo & video editing
  • Experience working in a harm reduction environment
  • CRM (customer relationship software)

Primary areas of responsibility

Restaurant sales/Produce Donations (40%)

  • Coordinate weekly sales and donations distribution. Building and maintaining relationships, sales and marketing.

Farmers Markets/CSA (40%)

  • Manage weekly Community supported agriculture program, support market staff with pricing and marketing materials.

Marketing & social media (20%)

  • Write and distribute weekly e-blasts using Mailchimp
  • Monitor and post to social media, with focus on Instagram.

Staff supervision

The Sales and Distribution Coordinator reports to the Director of Farm Operations and Administrative Director. Participates in contract/service delivery. Does not supervise staff.

The Sales and Distribution Coordinator position may be funded through Provincial, Federal, or private grants.
