Hiring: Full-Time Sous Chef

ABOUT US

Cheakamus Centre is a unique environmental learning centre designed to provide exceptional learning and hospitality experiences inspired by nature. Situated on 165 hectares of ecological reserve in the Cheakamus River Valley near Squamish, BC, Cheakamus Centre is seeking a highly motivated individual interested in learning about and supporting the delivery of the Skw'une-was program. This overnight cultural immersion designed for Grade 3 and 4 students has been central to Cheakamus Centre's activities for more than 30 years.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading the kitchen team alongside Executive Chef
  • Daily operations, ordering, handling invoices, organization of fridges, storage and general kitchen area
  • Overseeing quality of food purchases
  • Ensuring daily communication with Executive Chef, regarding functions, staff issues, products and promotions
  • Assisting Executive Chef with managing food costs and controlling turnover of products
  • Planning menus - conceptualizing and implementing new menu with the Executive Chef's approval and direction
  • Other duties that may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Previous restaurant and hotel experience
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience an asset
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Accountable for leading monthly inventory
  • Ability to read and understand financial reports and knowledge of working with monthly budgets
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $50,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Brackendale, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Cooking: 3 years (preferred)
