Position: Marketing Coordinator (Temporary)
Organization: Food Stash Foundation
Location: The Marketing Coordinator will have tasks that they can perform remotely and others where they will be required to be on-site at Food Stash Headquarters, 340 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver, BC.

This job opportunity is made possible through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, Employment and Social Development Canada. Due to the nature of this funding, applicants must:

  • Be between 15 - 30 years old (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations (International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents).

Schedule: 30 hours per week
Employment duration: 12 weeks
Wage: $16.50 per hour

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

Job Description:

This position is responsible for supporting the Program Manager in executing the communications strategy and marketing plans for Food Stash. In this role, the Marketing Coordinator will develop content, assist with social media, help to write key publications such as newsletters and monthly impact reports, and gather stories and photos of clients that document the work of Food Stash and its network. The focus of this position is to create quality content that engages various stakeholders and strengthens our online presence and community. The successful candidate will be exceptionally organized, have strong interpersonal skills, excellent writing and communicating skills, and be able to take initiative while being part of a cohesive and passionate team!

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to support the Food Stash PR and Communications Strategy including but not limited to:
  • Assist in developing Stash Story blog series. This could include: creating content on topics such as our day-to-day operations, hidden gems, partners, clients, news and Page 1 of 2 announcements, interviewing and/or researching chosen topics or individuals, writing articles, and publishing on our website and social channels;
  • Assist with creating shareable materials such as the monthly newsletter, promotional materials, or social media content
  • Develop media bank of various photos that highlight the work we do;
  • Assist with monthly impact reports in collaboration with the Food Stash team;
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent experience
  • Previous design or marketing experience, an asset
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, an asset
  • Non-profit and/or charity sector experience, an asset
  • Offer of employment will be conditional upon satisfactory criminal record check Knowledge,

Skills & Abilities Requirements

  • The ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal
  • Ability to take initiative and problem solve

Founded in 2016, Food Stash Foundation is a registered charity with a twofold mission to reduce the environmental impact of food waste and bridge the food insecurity gap that exists within our community. Through our 7 day per week operation, we currently support 16 suppliers and deliver to over 25 charities across the city of Vancouver with perishable surplus food delivery. Our food rescue efforts average over 65,000 pounds of diverted food per month into the hands of those who need it most. Our unique distribution model not only allows us to work with our charity partners that strive to assist others in food security, but it also allows for dignified access to wholesome nutritious food for those who need it most in the form of our weekly Rescued Food Box Program and Pedal to Plate Program, which currently supports over 80 households.
