General Job Information

Job Purpose of the position: No previous farming or gardening experience required, just a positive approach, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work outside Monday to Friday; 35 hours per week. Successful applicants will be trained to grow food at Everdale’s organic vegetable farm.
Start dates: We are hiring six people. Start dates range from May 1 to June 15. End dates: Minimum employment period is 16 weeks from your start date. Only applicants who can commit to at least 16 weeks will be considered. Possible contract extension to 24 weeks.
Pay: $17.25 per hour; 30% off all food items in Everdale’s farm store. Hours per week: 35 hours; Monday to Friday.
Work location: Everdale, 5812 Sixth Line, Hillsburgh, Ontario


We have dorm accommodations for those who are interested in living on site. Rent is $300/month. Private bedroom. Shared living space, bathroom, and kitchen.

Covid safety: Everdale follows all directives and laws as prescribed by the Ontario Government and Welling-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health. Employees and visitors are trained and required to use appropriate PPE and follow all other Covid protocols.

Eligibility: Successful applicants must be: 30 years old or younger; and, hold a valid SIN number; and, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status.

Job expectations:

  • Be punctual and ready to work selected hours.
  • Be committed to working safely and efficiently.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to perform physical, repetitive farming and gardening tasks.
  • Able to work outside in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Able to consistently take a positive solution-based approach to challenges.
  • Work occasional weekends and holidays, with notice.
  • Perform general farming tasks that you are trained to do, such as planting, weeding, irrigation, harvesting, and record keeping.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and beautiful farm.
  • Strive to carry out Everdale’s mission and objectives and mandate.
  • Communicate openly and respectfully with others.
