Position Title: Events Coordinator (Flavour Trails)

Position Overview

As the Event Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of CRFAIR’s flagship agritourism program, Flavour Trails. Flavour Trails is a long-standing community program that connects residents and visitors with local farms, food producers, and cultural food experiences across the Saanich Peninsula and Greater Victoria. The 2026 season marks the 20th anniversary, featuring a Season of Flavour (summer-long events) and a Signature Festival Weekend in August. 

In this role, you will work closely with the CRFAIR Management Team, Agritourism Consultant, and Communications Consultant to support event coordination, partner engagement, and content creation. You will contribute to delivering a dynamic, region-wide program that highlights local food systems while building community connections.

This is a hands-on role combining event logistics, outreach, and digital storytelling, with opportunities to bring creativity and initiative to community engagement and promotional strategies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Event Coordination & Delivery
● Support implementation of the Flavour Trails summer events strategy
● Assist in coordinating:
○ The Signature Flavour Trails Festival Weekend (August)
○ Trail Hub activations and on-site visitor experience
○ Partner-led events as part of the Season of Flavour
● Liaise with farms, food businesses, and vendors to support event readiness
● Assist with sponsorship coordination and partner communications
● Support volunteer coordination and event-day logistics
● Contribute to development of event materials (maps, signage, posters)

2. Content Creation & Promotions
Working with the Communications Consultant:
● Develop and schedule social media content highlighting partners and events
● Support website updates and partner listings
● Create written and visual content (posts, graphics, short-form video)
● Capture photography and storytelling content at farms and events
● Assist with promotional campaigns, media outreach, and engagement strategies
Focus: Building visibility, telling partner stories, and increasing audience engagement.

3. Outreach & Community Engagement
● Represent Flavour Trails at:
○ Farmers markets
○ Community events and festivals
● Support distribution of promotional materials (posters, rack cards, signage)
● Engage with partners and community members to promote participation
● Research and identify new outreach and engagement opportunities

4. Equity & Food Systems Lens (Integrated Across Role)
This role supports communications and engagement that:
● Reflect diverse cultural food traditions and perspectives
● Highlight Indigenous and newcomer food systems
● Promote equitable access to local food
● Contribute to building a just and sustainable regional food system

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible under Canada Summer Jobs guidelines
    • Aged 18–30
    • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection status
  • Valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
  • Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Familiarity with digital tools such as:
    • Canva
    • Google Suite
    • Mailchimp / Hootsuite (or similar platforms)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail

Assets:

  • Extroverted personality and public outreach and engagement skills
  • Graphic design and/or photography skills
  • Event planning or coordination experience
  • Interest in food systems, agriculture, tourism, or community development

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid role: combination of remote, office, and on-site work
  • Flexible hours required, including evenings and weekends
  • Regular travel to farms, markets, and event sites
  • Active, hands-on role including event setup and material distribution

Position Details

● Start Date: Mid-May 2026
● End Date: Early September 2026
● Hours: 30 hours/week
● Wage: $24-26/hour

This position offers hands-on experience in event production, agri-tourism, communications, and community engagement, with opportunities to build a portfolio and work directly with local food system leaders.
