Position: Environmental Farm Projects Coordinator
Organization: Earthwise Society
Location: Agassiz, BC (accommodation on site may be available)

Earthwise Society is a not-for-profit environmental education organization with demonstration projects for sustainable land use in Tsawwassen and Agassiz BC. We have an exciting opportunity at our Agassiz location for a project coordinator who is interested in the interrelationships between small scale organic farming and habitat enhancement.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Coordinator will be responsible for the following:


  • Coordinate the implementation and delivery of farming and stewardship programs at Earthwise Agassiz
  • Lead staff and volunteers in carrying out farming operations for an established one-acre certified organic teaching farm, including field preparation, field maintenance, irrigation, harvesting and post harvest handling of crops
  • Coordinate the implementation of marketing and sales including agritourism, CSA, farm store, and direct sales
  • Assist with planning, development and implementation of a demonstration rain garden at Earthwise Agassiz
  • Assist with maintenance of plantings within ecological demonstration garden featuring native, woodland, and pollinator plants
  • Plan and carry out outreach and engagement activities and events, greet site visitors, lead tours
  • Engage community volunteers in on-site habitat initiatives including planting, invasive species removal and trail development; provide training and supervision; ensure that safety protocols are followed
  • Plan and implement adult education programs, including programs on freshwater management and conservation
  • Develop and deliver hands-on educational programs for children and youth
  • Maintain on-site composting as a component of organic soil management
  • Ensure organic compliance records are complete and kept up-to date
  • Assist with construction projects such as trail construction, fencing and repairs
  • Be responsible for safe tool and equipment use and maintenance and ensure that storage areas are tidy
  • Ensure that public areas of the site are maintained as a destination learning resource to be clean, safe and inviting for visitors
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Post-secondary graduation related to agriculture, horticulture, environment, or similar
  • At least 1-2 experience related to horticulture, conservation, or farming
  • Knowledge and understanding of sustainable horticultural practices
  • Familiarity with small farm equipment including proper use and maintenance
  • Good customer service skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Valid BC Driver’s License
  • Enjoyment of outdoor physical work
  • Basic carpentry skills an asset


This position will be located at 6031 Golf Road, Agassiz, BC. This is a full-time temporary position, 35 hours per week, from February 1 through September 15, 2022. Weekend work will be required. There may be an option to extend this position based upon the availability of funding and a positive performance review.
