SUSTAINABLE FARMING & AGRICULTURE

Positions: Market Gardeners
Farm: Slow River Gardens
Location: St Adolphe, Manitoba. 30 minutes South of Winnipeg.

Small Vegetable Farm looking for 1 Full time and 1 Part Time Seasonal Worker.

Both positions to start ASAP.
Full time is 32 hours/ week. Part time is 16-24 hours/ week.

We operate with the understanding that soil is ALIVE.

Looking at soil as a rich web of life offers a different understanding for how we can treat it. Not only are we focused on growing healthy crops for sale, but the attention is also geared toward growing healthy soil for future generations. We practise a form of low till agriculture with a strong focus on increasing organic matter through the addition of compost applications and cover cropping.

This kind of farming is a political act, and our desire is to provide jobs for people who are invested in this work, willing to learn, and ready to work hard. We do not require that our staff have previous experience working on farms. One of our goals is to provide jobs for people who might have a hard time finding jobs with living wages in Manitobas largely conservative and insular agricultural context.

Roles and responsibilities for both positions include:

  • seeding and tending to starts in greenhouse as well as planting
  • weeding and harvesting on a weekly basis.

Pay is $15/ hr.

Please send resume with cover to slowrivergardens@gmail.com
