Positions: Farm Field Crew
Farm: Big Rock Ranch
Location: 100 Mile House, BC
On farm housing: We have 2 cozy caravans we offer to farm crew

Big Rock Ranch is a 148-acre farm, a short 15 minute drive from the historic town of 100 Mile House, in Buffalo Creek BC. Here we grow many varieties of vegetables on 2 acres, raise heritage chickens for eggs, care for our hive of honey bees, have 3 lovely horses, and 2 wonderful farm dogs. We sell our produce at the South Cariboo Farmers Market, for a 60 CSA Members, for wholesale companies like Discovery Organics and to local Guest Ranches.

Big Rock Ranch is a family run farm where sustainability and ecological practices are at its core. We believe strongly in keeping our food as close to its source as nature intended, with a large focus on animal welfare and soil health. We feel strongly about building community, our local economy and supporting it by investing locally. We focus on raising heritage chickens free range rotationally on pasture, invest in the health of our soils with low till practices and lots of compost, and are focused on environmentally aware farming practices. We are currently in transition organic and should be certified by July 2021.


FARM FIELD CREW (3 Positions Available) Late April/early May-mid October, 2021

If you're looking for a stimulating, fun, physical job working outdoors in the Cariboo with the opportunity to be a part of the local organic food system this position might be right for you. We are looking for people who want to be involved in the process of growing really good food, like hard work, enjoy a good challenge, value doing their work well and are able to work quickly and efficiently in a crew or alone.

We work hard, enjoy what we do, and eat well while doing it.

As a small, hard-working team of 4 to 5 people, we all participate in nearly every aspect of what it takes to run a small scale mixed vegetable farm. This means that daily tasks are diverse and may include any combination of:

  • Field Prep
  • Field Cultivation with hand tools
  • Field Cultivation with small tractors
  • Seed Starting
  • Direct Seeding
  • Transplanting
  • Pruning
  • Weeding
  • Harvesting Vegetables
  • Wash & Pack Duties
  • Delivering Vegetable Boxes and Special Orders
  • Selling at Farmers' Market Booth
  • Field Clean-Up


Term: Late April/Early May-Mid October
Hours: 40 hrs a week
Wage: $15/hr with room and board included
