Organization: BC Crab Fishermen's Association
Location: Position is virtual but some in-person events necessary. Preference for candidates on Vancouver Island, BC

Job Description:

The Marketing Coordinator will support the implementation of BC Crab’s marketing strategy through storytelling and education.

Working closely with the Executive Director and external contractors, this role will help share the stories of BC’s commercial crab fishery and its harvesters—through recipes, harvester profiles, digital content, and public-facing materials.

This position combines social media, content development, and in-person event support. It’s suited to someone who is organized, comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders, and interested in food systems, fisheries, or coastal communities.

Position starts June 1st and runs for 8 weeks at 35 hours/week. Wage is $20-24/hr.

  • Assist in updating and executing BC Crab’s marketing and communications plan
  • Create and schedule social media content (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Develop written content including harvester profiles, blog posts, and recipe features
  • Support content gathering (interviews, photos, basic video) with harvesters and partners
  • Coordinate and support marketing-related events (such as False Creek Crab Fest), including community engagement and promotional activities
  • Maintain and update website content as needed
  • Track basic performance metrics (social engagement, website traffic) and report on results
  • Provide general administrative support for marketing initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation
  • Graphic design and visual communication, including use of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
  • Interest in BC’s seafood sector, sustainability, or local food systems is an asset
