Unity Farm is committed to reviving the property’s rural agricultural tradition, and we have found a way to honour and share the land’s rich history. On the farm, discover our beautiful vineyard, orchard, berries, perennial flower & vegetable gardens and apiary.

Job summary

Unity Farm is seeking 4 staff members to work in farm labour positions, assisting with the growth and expansion of our operation in the 2023 season. Ideal candidates will be adaptable, understand and enjoy working outdoors under all weather conditions; have experiences and are interested in learning more about vineyard and orchard management, berries, herbs, perennial plants and landscaping.

What you’ll do

  • Weeding and crop maintenance (pruning, trellising, covering etc.)
  • Basic landscaping and ground maintenance
  • Following crop plans and maintaining important records
  • Irrigating crops and assisting with irrigation system set up/takedown and maintenance
  • Applying amendments and organic fertilizer following the soil amendment plan
  • Using various hand tools and small machinery
  • Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand

Qualifications

  • Past experience in vegetable farming, vineyard and/ or orchard care
  • Physically fit and able to perform tasks for long periods of time (including heavy lifting up to 30lbs, repetitive tasks, standing and squatting, walking)
  • Familiar with landscaping equipment (lawn mowers, trimmers, weed wackers
  • Reliable and able to work in all types of weather conditions
  • Pays close attention to detail; enjoys working with others and by themselves;
  • Experience hard or soft landscaping
  • Positive attitude
  • Good listener, learns quickly and is able to take direction
  • Adhere to safety standards
  • Safety training (WHMIS) considered an asset
