Position: Urban ecological farming

The Common Table Farm is a project of Flemingdon Park Ministry (FPM), a non-profit organization in Toronto. This small urban farm uses ecological farming practices and seeks to support the community by addressing the issue of food insecurity. We are currently seeking seasonal staff to support our farm. Farm workers will help maintain the farm and create educational opportunities for children and visitors in the community. They will report directly to the Farm Manager and the Executive Director.


  • Work as part of the farm team, assisting with maintenance of the farm including: planting, digging, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, seed sowing and seed saving, trellising, harvesting, pest control and composting.
  • Support the Urban Farm Educator with educational activities including creation of learning materials, assisting with tours and hands-on workshops for children of various ages.
  • Assist with the direction and training of farm volunteers.
  • Ensure all equipment is secured and well-maintained.
  • Provide excellent communication when interacting with visitors.
  • Perform other general tasks as assigned by the Farm Manager.


  • Passion and interest in urban agriculture, food justice and community work
  • Strong gardening skills or farming experience is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather, under strenuous conditions
  • Ability to perform physical labor; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Motivated and punctual, able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented, able to follow instructions and take initiative
  • Schedule will be mostly Monday-Friday but a few Saturday shifts may be required
  • Valid Driver License is an asset
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
