GROW LOCAL FOOD

Positions: Organic Farm Assistant (Volunteer)
Farm: Rhizome Farms
Location: St. Catharines, Niagara Region, Ontario

General farming tasks on small-scale organic (not certified) farm. We do not use any chemical fertilizer, herbicides or pesticides.

General duties include:

  • mixing soil and filling pots
  • watering plants
  • seedling and labeling flats and plug trays
  • transplanting seedlings to field
  • weeding vegetable plots using hand tools
  • applying row cover and landscape fabric
  • harvest, carrying heavy items
  • mulching, digging holes, shoveling and applying compost

Please have a positive attitude, be comfortable working outside with dirt, water, livestock in all weather conditions. Having access to a car is recommended, however we are on a bus route!

Come have some fun in the sun this summer! We are looking for volunteers starting now into November. If there are extra veggies you can have them each week! Volunteering is available every Saturday 9 am to 1pm. It is best to RSVP at RhizomeFarms@gmail.com or check social media in case of a rain date.
