Position: Education Outreach Program Coordinator

Location: Remote. Ideal candidates will live in or near Toronto or Peterborough to support on-site activities.

• Compensation: $20/hour
• Start Date: June 3rd, 2024 for 8 weeks at 35 hours/week

Pollinator Partnership Canada (P2C) is a registered charity dedicated to the protection and promotion of pollinators and their ecosystems through conservation, education, and research. P2C is hiring an Education Outreach Program Coordinatorto support our habitat creation initiatives, including outreach, education, and conservation efforts in Canada.

The Education Outreach Program Coordinator will work alongside Pollinator Partnership Canada staff to support with data review and transcription, including the enhancement of existing educational tools and resources, such as the Native Plants Finder, and Ecoregional guides. In addition, the ideal candidate will support content creation, and advertising Pollinator Week celebrations. We offer programming across Canada in English and French. Ability to support French language content development is considered an asset.

Key tasks include:

• Support enhancing the Project Wingspan program in Ontario. This includes working with native plant societies, gardening groups, and other non-profit
  organizations to learn more about accessibility of native seeds and plants for future pollinator conservation efforts.
• Data transcription and supporting research for Native Plants finder Tool and Ecoregional Guides.
• Creating social media posts and newsletter content to engage the Pollinator Partnership Canada community.

• Promoting community efforts to celebrate Pollinator Week (June 17-23, 2024) e.g., content creation to provide celebration inspiration, sharing existing projects.
• Developing educational content for Pollinator Partnership Canada’s website that empowers and inspires the public to learn about and protect pollinators (e.g.,
  fact sheets, blog posts).
• Assisting in donor engagement.
• Field work experience and plant ID skills considered an asset to potentially assist in right of way habitat research.

To be eligible for the CSJ position, you must:

• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period**
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment ***, and
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

** The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

*** International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
