WHISTLER BC JOBS

Hiring: Lead Grower
Organization: The Brew Creek Centre

Location: Brew Creek Centre, near Whistler, BC
Housing: seasonal on-farm accommodation available

Full-time Seasonal position
May – October 31, 2024

The Brew Creek Farm is located in one of the most pristinely beautiful areas of the coastal mountain range of Canada. The property is situated on 20 acres of land, a secluded sanctuary in an intimate, exclusive forest setting, just 15 minutes from Whistler, yet miles away from it all. The Brew Creek Centre also hosts a high-end hospitality destination for self-catered private organizations, corporate groups, and wellness gatherings. Historically we operated with an onsite farm-to-table restaurant, now instead transitioning into Whistler's first year-round organic production farm offering our high-quality rare garden specialties to local restaurants in the surrounding area. This is going to be an extra busy season of growth and expansion on the farm as we are also gearing up this season to offer CSA boxes to the community.

Inspired by modern farming techniques and alternative agricultural practices. Our produce is carefully cultivated using the most up to date regenerative practices with an emphasis on energy efficiency, nutrient density, taste, and year round production. We harvest from approximately three acres. Below is an overview of what our operation looks like.

  • Aquaculture / Aquaponics – a 1400 sq ft state of the art aquaponic facility which houses our family of 300 goldfish and coy. This facility was built and designed by team members on site and has been steadily generating 40lbs of lettuce a week on top of a variety of other delicious herbs and speciality crops such as ginger root and lemon grass
  • Indoor Tropical Geodesic Dome – We have two geodesic domes – one for flowering crops and one strictly for edibles. Picture an indoor secret jungle of tangled fruit vines, tomato trellises' running 10 feet tall, as well as lush perennials such as papaya trees fruiting all year round.
  • Brand new to our operation are two commercial greenhouses (4000ft2 each) generating a year-round production of seasonal crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, Lettuce and Baby Mixed Greens
  • MicroGreen production – up to 30 living trays a week for local up scale restaurants to add to salad mixes and beautiful garnishes
  • Vermicomposting – onsite we house a worm haven, decomposing our scraps and providing us with 50lbs of gold (worm castings) a week which we spread onto our fields and in our indoor beds with delight, adding a microbial boost of life into all of our systems!
  • Beneficial Insects – we are not afraid of bugs on this farm and we do our best to work with them instead of against them. With many climate controlled indoor growing spaces we will often introduce beneficial bugs to keep all of our crops healthy happy and protected.
  • 2 acres of outdoor vegetable production on beautiful rich native clay soil
  • Herb production
  • Flower Farm and Perennial Flower beds
  • Mobile Chicken Tractor
