WORK ON ORGANIC FARMS

Farm: Circle Organic
Location: Millbrook, between Oshawa / Peterborough / Cobourg, Ontario

We are seeking 1 to 2 full-time or part-time field workers from May to November 2024, with an option for part-time work from September 2024 to April 2025. Wage is $16.55/hour. Hours of work are generally 8-4PM. When there is a demand in the garden, we might require more hours. Flexibility is helpful.

About our farm:

• We are a certified organic mixed fruit and vegetable farm, entering our 16th growing season;
• We are experienced four-season farmers and market our food year-round;
• We have operated at various scales throughout our farming career, ranging from a smaller mixed garden to 15 acres of vegetables. This year we will be growing for various restaurants, farmers’ market, CSA boxes, winter storage and our on-farm store;
• We practice unique ecological farming methods, such as contour farming, bio stimulant teas, unique cover cropping systems, etc.

The type of farm work includes seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing, packing, and other market gardening tasks. Applicants must be willing to work in all weather conditions and be comfortable performing repetitive tasks for long hours with a positive attitude. Strength and fitness are important. Vegetable farming experience is a strong asset, as well as some experience with manual labour and strong mental endurance. Applicants must be highly organized, must demonstrate attention to detail, and must also enjoying the discipline of hand farming.
