Role: Farm Couple Interns
Farm: A'Bunadh Seeds

Location: Cherhill area, near Edmonton, Alberta
Housing: on site, room & board (see below)
Remuneration: to be discussed (see below) includes training, room & board

This is a farm tending/ working/ learning position for experienced farm hands/ field workers/ young agrarians, to learn about more intensive farm land operations.  We will train you and then we are going on a holiday and need someone to manage things while we are away.  IN exchange for the education we will pay a small wage and you will have room and board and a live-in position.  Great for a couple.

Alberta Heirloom seed production farm, and UPick Strawberry operation requires a young couple to farm sit while the owners are on holiday in summer of 2026 for one month.

We will take on a young couple and educate them on our farm-specific operation, the aspects that need to be managed and maintained, including strawberry field management, irrigation, weeding, tilling, watering, planting, and booking appointments for strawberry picking. We have beef animals, which will need tending, possibly including calving, tagging, vaccination, ringing bull calves, etc.. Cattle watering, moving pastures, or feeding and maintaining mineral and salt blocks, cleaning shed areas, spreading manure, etc..

We also run an heirloom seed operation, so there will be plants to tend, transplant into garden areas, water and weed, raspberry plants to tend, farm sales and early markets to attend. Our website will be part of the chores also, to ensure orders, shipping and delivery of goods. Predator and pest control will be part of this.

Couple must have their own vehicle and be prepared for 14 hour days.

Remuneration / Benefits:

  • We will train in the management of such a diverse operation.
  • To be dicussed, we are open to an applicable wage, given the education input and room and board on our part.

We maintain our farm according to the organic standards but are not certified.

Position will begin in May and prepare you to manage all aspects for the month of June alone. We have our busiest season in July for Strawberries and it continues into October. Length of internship is negotiable after the month of June.
