Non-profit Treasurer Position

Role: Treasurer
Organization: People's Food Institute
Location: remote, anywhere in Canada / Turtle Island

People’s Food Institute (PFI) is currently recruiting a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors.

People’s Food Institute (PFI) is a Canadian registered charity (CRA #773881883RR0001) dedicated to transforming how food is grown, shared, and valued across Canada and Turtle Island. We work nationally alongside communities to advance food justice, sovereignty, and ecological sustainability.

Rooted in principles of equity, decolonization, and community leadership, PFI supports research, education, advocacy, and movement-building. While PFI does not carry out “on-the-ground” programs directly, we partner with and amplify organizations and communities doing this vital work. Through collaboration, we help shift power, resources, and knowledge to grassroots initiatives and leaders driving food systems change.

We believe food is more than sustenance—it is a source of connection, culture, and resilience. By supporting and uplifting community-led action, we aim to help create a just and sustainable food future for all.

  • High integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to accountability
