Position: Member Communications & Administration Coordinator
Organization: National Farmers Union - Ontario
Location: Work from home, anywhere in Ontario

  • Position: 12-14 hrs/week with seasonal flexibility
  • Duration: July 28, 2025 to March 30, 2027, with possibility of extension
  • Compensation: $24/hour + 4% vacation pay

The Member Communications & Administration Coordinator is a detail-oriented individual with a passion for supporting farmers with timely information & messaging. They will have strong organizational and communication skills. They will be comfortable working independently and with a team. They will take initiative in their tasks, but be willing to check in and learn from feedback. They must be committed to the NFU-O’s mission of raising the collective voice of farmers across Ontario, in an effort to create a better food and farming system for farmers, eaters and the land.

The Member Communications & Administration Coordinator works closely with the Membership & Special Projects Manager, and is primarily responsible for coordinating and disseminating communications (electronic and print) to members, providing communications support to Locals, and maintaining the NFU-O website. This position will also support the administration related to membership renewals.

Tasks include:

1. Member Communications

  • Coordinate the collection of materials of interest to members and distribute via the monthly e-news
  • Coordinate the dissemination of news specific to various sector groups within the membership
  • Work with members or staff to write and submit articles to the Rural Voice
  • Coordinate content for NFU-O’s social media channels
  • Ensure the NFU-O website is current, accurate, and functioning
  • Create all graphics and communications for the NFU-O AGM
  • Coordinate the Year in Review presentation for members at the AGM
  • Coordinate member print newsletters, as funding permits

2. Member Administration

  • Support the administration of member renewals, including uploading member records to the NFU-O database, and updating records in MailChimp and Rural Voice lists
  • Support the coordination of new member messaging (print and email)
  • Support the collection of typical member FAQs
  • Support the organization of the annual NFU-O AGM & Convention

3. Local Communications & Administrative Support

  • Create posters and communications materials for Locals
  • Manage the coordination and dissemination of news specific to Locals
  • Coordinate with Locals to advertise their events in the Rural Voice
  • Support Locals in setting up their monthly meetings and AGMs

The Member Communications & Administration Coordinator will have:

  • An understanding of the Ontario agricultural community
  • Strong print and online communications skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, conscientiousness
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusivity and respect
  • Experience working with social media platforms & other social media analytics and scheduling tools (Hootsuite, MailChimp, Eventbrite, etc.)
  • Experience with graphic design (Photoshop, Canva, etc.)
  • Experience with Wordpress
  • Proficiency in online communications including Gmail, Google tools (Sheets, Docs, Drive)
  • Proficiency in webinar hosting/logistics (Zoom)
  • Excellent written and spoken English; French fluency is an asset
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work from home
