Are you passionate about protecting the environment and supporting local communities? Kawartha Conservation is seeking a dedicated and motivated Agricultural Stewardship Technician to help promote farm-based stewardship and funding programs across the Kawartha watershed.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in delivering on-the-ground ecological restoration and community engagement projects – balancing hands-on work with project administration and management. As a key member of our Stewardship team, you’ll work directly with farmers, partners, and municipalities to advance our programs that enhance the production of ecosystem services on marginal farmland. What You’ll Do

• Deliver Programs: Plan and manage a variety of agricultural stewardship programs, including the ALUS Kawarthas Peterborough Northumberland (KPN) program, to support farm-based ecosystem services projects and education initiatives.
• Organize Data: Maintain an up-to-date database of incoming and ongoing landowner projects, including project plans, maps, and financial information.
• Build Relationships: Build strong relationships with farmers and facilitate regular meetings of the ALUS KPN Partnership Advisory Committee (PAC).
• Support Landowners: Provide guidance on implementing ecosystem service projects that promote healthy, biodiverse, and climate resilient farms.
• Lead in the Field: Conduct site visits, support the approval and implementation of restoration projects, and monitor projects for continued success.
• Coordinate Funding Support: Administer landowner cost-share programs, prepare grant applications, and manage project-specific budgets and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with contractors, municipal staff, ALUS Canada, and community partners to advance shared environmental goals.
• Promote Safety and Compliance: Uphold strong health and safety practices and ensure work aligns with organizational policies and procedures.
• Contribute to Innovation: Recommend program improvements and support the development of new initiatives aligned with strategic goals.
