Location: Daajing Giids, Maude Island, Haida Gwaii, British Columbia

We are seeking an individual who has a genuine interest in learning how to market garden. We have been farming since 1994 and have plenty of experience in organic food production to share. Maude Island Farm is situated on remote Maude Island which is part of the beautiful Haida Gwaii Archepelago. We grow a wide variety of vegetables and some fruits such as: carrots, beets, lettuce, garlic, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, raspberries, apples and more. We provide food for about 40 local families through our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) home delivery program, as well as the farmer's market, restaurants, and stores. We use organic regenerative practices.

The applicant will learn skills such as planting and maiintaining field crops, greenhouse management, composting, harvest and prepping veggies for market, homesteading skills such as chopping wood, baking bread, pickling, fermentation etc.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardy soul who does not mind living off-grid in a remote setting. You must be physically strong and willing to work as a member of the team as well as be a self motivated person who can also work alone at times. The farmer (Lynda) will work daily with the workers on the farm.

We provide a private room and all the farm food you can eat.

The pay is $20.00/hr, 35 hours/week

Dates: May 1 – October 31, 2024.
