Position: Farm operations coordinator

We are an organization that works to fight food insecurity through education and a meals on wheels service to individuals with a loss of autonomy.

We’re looking for a visionary Farm Operations Coordinator to lead our farm’s operations. You'll play a key role in deepening the farm’s impact on our community, supporting social & educational initiatives, and addressing food insecurity.

We compensate shortlisted candidates $75 per in-person interview in recognition of time and effort, and to support those with financial limitations who might not otherwise apply.

THE JOB

The incumbent maintains the operational services in the delivery of our organic farm program, including but not limited to executing the crop plan of plantings and seedlings, harvesting logistics, washing and packing logistics, irrigation schedules, and equipment & machine repair.

Working under the general supervision of the Educational Farm Manager, they assist in seasonal programming preparation and the operationalization of events and engagement activities, such as volunteer shift coordination, group facilitation, and educational projects.

The incumbent also assists in intern and apprentice training, weekly task setting and prioritizing, production distribution, administrative tasks (harvest tracking) and other areas of responsibility as determined by the Manager.

May handle special assignments and projects in regards to farm programs or events. The Farm Operations Coordinator exercises initiative, creativity and autonomy in ensuring that all operational and programming tasks are prioritized and occur according to schedule, uses independent judgment in the performance of most tasks, and acts as a training support for entry-level positions within the program.

NOTE: Due to program restructuring in the coming months, this position may undergo certain adjustment in tasks & responsibilities.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Some (2+ years) experience/education/training in agriculture;
  • Experience leading volunteers or team members;
  • Knowledge of databases, conventional office software and spreadsheets;
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications, bilingually in both French and English;
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines;
  • Drivers license is an asset.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Collaborates with the Educational Farm Manager to develop, delegate, and maintain farm operational activities;
  2. Collaborates with the Educational Farm Manager to implement a comprehensive agricultural plan, encompassing crop rotation, soil fertility management, seed selection, planting techniques, pest control, and harvesting practices. Monitors and maintains greenhouse environments, irrigation systems, and overall farm infrastructure while assessing and delegating the use of equipment for daily tasks to meet production targets and quality standards. Ensures other infrastructure, such as buildings, amenities, roadways and storage for the farm is in good working order. Continuously works with an agronome to ensure best practices are being used and follows organic certification guidelines;
  3. Coordinates the weekly distribution logistics of farm produce distribution, overseeing associated administrative tasks (such as harvest tracking), and nurtures these associated relationships on an ongoing basis;
  4. Coordinates volunteer shifts, group visits, and operationalizes engagement activities (from daily conversation and schedule sign up, to events, etc). Develops educational activities and resources adapted to our different audiences and season specific activities;
  5. Collaborates with the Educational Farm Manager to cultivate and enhance relationships with various stakeholders, including landholders, neighbors, suppliers, and external partners. Similarly works to collaborate with other Roulant programs to ensure the best use of shared resources (financial and human), the long term sustainability of the program, and its influence in the broader community;
  6. Works alongside the Educational Farm Manager to implement strategic goals, maintain land in accordance with the lease, and develop a curriculum for first-time farm apprentices;
  7. Collaborates in ad hoc projects, internal cross-programmatic polyvalence, events, and activities within the farm, other programs, and the community, determined by the organization’s programming vision, needs, administration, and farm program capacity.

THE PAY AND PERKS

  • Full-time role (permanent & recurringly seasonal: March - November);
  • Start date: mid-February 2026
  • 35 hours per week within a Mon-Fri schedule;
  • $23.54 - $24.84/hr (approximate. To be confirmed with regards to cost-of-living increase);
  • 1250$ in quarterly bonuses, to support equipment purchase, leisure, and investments;
  • 4+ paid weeks of time off;
