Regenerative agriculture, farmers and farming

Positions: Farm Team Member - Regenerative Market Gardener (Vegetable Seeding, Planting, Weeding, Harvesting, Washing & Packing)
Type: full time, seasonal (May-September) - flexible part time also available.
Organization: The Muskoka Farmer
Location: Within commuting distance of Severn Bridge ON (South Muskoka)

Are you an enthusiastic and reliable aspiring regenerative farmer who wants to work outside and grow with us?

About Us: We are a no-till, no-spray, regenerative market garden growing on 5 acres in Severn Bridge, Muskoka. We are focused on soil health, biodiversity and intercropping to grow the most delicious lettuce, salad, tomatoes, beets, herbs, edible flowers and a variety of other vegetables for our weekly Harvest Box, Saturday Farmers Market, to chefs and retailers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Soil Preparation
  • Seeding
  • Transplanting
  • Garden Maintenance (weeding, mowing, trellising, etc)
  • Harvesting
  • Washing & Packing
  • Other farm responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in agriculture OR a keen interest in pursuing a career in agriculture
  • Must be reliable - (inability to show up to work places an enormous burden on the rest of the team)
  • Must be willing and able to work long hours in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to stand/walk/kneel/crouch/bend for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • A good work ethic and a great attitude!

Note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

We would like to employ a student or youth, regardless of their work experience or life history, who is genuinely interested in regenerative agriculture and food production.
This job has some flexibility with hours and can accommodate the right candidate(s).

Compensation:

  • $20-24/hr dependent upon experience.
  • Hands-on experience in regenerative farming.
  • Potential for long-term employment and co-operative businesses for the right candidate(s).
