Position: Market Assistant – Events and Promotion Assistant
Type: age 30 & under / summer

The Avon Community Farmers Market is looking to hire a dynamic student to be our Market Assistant, with a focus on event planning and promotion.

Reporting to the Market Manager, the role will largely focus on social media management, planning, networking and community outreach. You will have the opportunity to be creative and practice your skills in networking, fundraising, planning and marketing.

You will need to talk to vendors, customers, and community members in person, digitally and on the phone. You will be needed weekly on Sundays for market set-up assistance and be given independent taks and responsibilities during the week.

Tasks include:

  • Set-up and tear-down
  • Cash Handling
  • Meta App use and social media posting
  • Website updates
  • Vendor layout
  • Special event brainstorming and planning.

Considered Assets:

  • First Aid Certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Food Handlers’ Certificate

The position will run for 9 weeks, at 30 hours a week, between May 17th and August 29th 2026. Hours of work will be Sundays at the Market, from 8 am to 2pm. Other hours will be partially remote and will be scheduled with the successful applicant. The position pays $16.75/hour.
