Position: Sustainability Program Coordinator
Type: age 30 & under / summer

Location: Toronto ON (onsite at 192 Spadina Ave and local Toronto farmers' markets)
Dates: June 1st or 8th, to Aug 31st

The Canadian Centre for Food and Ecology (CCFE) is hiring three dynamic Sustainability Program Coordinators to support our exciting Summer initiatives! These roles are part of a larger effort to build community engagement, support local farmers, and promote food security through our vibrant events and projects. About the Canadian Centre for Food and Ecology:

The Canadian Centre for Food and Ecology (CCFE) is a new national charity with a mission to inspire food decisions that nurture people and planet. Our aim is to elevate and amplify the voices that guide the shift towards locally-connected food networks. Think of us as matchmakers for the food system. By connecting supply-side partners with their ideal audience, we inspire people to take action through food. With a strong conviction for the importance of joyful, immersive experiences as change catalysts, we team up with partners to create meaningful and achievable initiatives that boost demand for foods that are good for people and the planet.

General Requirements for All Positions:

  • Must be between 15–30 years old at the start of employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Research skills and neighbourhood-based inquiry experience considered an asset

Compensation:

$27.20/hour for 35 hours per week from June 1st or 8th - Aug 31st

Work Schedule:

Some evening and weekend work is required. We will aim to provide consistent two-day breaks each week. (For example: if students work on Sundays, Friday–Saturday could be consistent days off.)

Working location(s):

These positions will be based at 192 CSI (Center for Social Innovation), Spadina, where our office is located as well as three other local farmers’ markets across Toronto.

Position: Sustainability Program Coordinator

About You:

You’re a self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in leadership roles. A multi-tasking whiz, you learn quickly and use your event coordination or public-facing engagement experience to successfully execute programming. Your passion for local food, food systems, food justice and collaborative projects helps you draw in the community while your attention to detail and management skills keep you focused on achieving your goals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead fun and engaging activities at our events
  • Represent CCFE and liaise with our partners, vendors and customers
  • Support educational, promotional, and food security initiatives
  • Assist project coordination, support planning and scheduling
  • Work independently and collaboratively with a small team

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and community engagement skills
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask and stay focused in fast-paced settings
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Digital media literacy and proficiency in Google Suite
  • Food Handlers Certification

Assets:

  • Experience working with community food programming
  • Prior experience in similar roles
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license

Experience:

  • Event coordination or public-facing engagement
  • Familiarity with and/or experience working in food systems and food justice
