WEB DEVELOPER JOBS

Position: Web Developer & App Developer
Project: Avalily Permaculture and The Earthskills Institute
Location: remote or from-home position that can be completed from anywhere with a good and secure internet connection

Unique thinkers, creative problem solvers, and talented developers needed to develop websites and an app for a growing permaculture and earthskills business! This will be a contract position (or positions depending on the expertise and availability of candidates), that can be fullfilled from anywhere in Canada with a good and secure internet connection conducive to supporting this work.

You will be working with a small business owner based in British Columbia, Canada to develop a user-friendly website (or websites) with several sub components that are easy for the owner to populate with content, manage and update. These components will be contracted out based on the expertise and interest of developers, and by their availability to complete work in as quickly as possible. Therefore, there may be several contracts to complete all work. Projects are listed below:

  • A creative and professional website that describes the business and its offerings, allows clients to book consultations, houses a blog or some type of news feed that is linked to social media accounts, links to online school and other pages, has an interactive educational component;
  • We have started setting up an online school and could use some help developing this futher. Ideally it will eveolve into a unique platform (but similar to Udemy or Outschool) where the business owner can post live online or pre-recorded on-demand courses, and other instructors can post their courses as well;
  • An online store that the business owner can sell custom designed, print on demand eco merch and dropship products, as well as products from other companies. Ideally this will eventually be developed into a collective store (like Etsy), where other sellers could apply to sell their products on this platform as well;
  • A match-making app and webpage where folks can create a profile and be matched with people for professional, platonic, or romantic partnerships;

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience setting up and maintaining similar projects or sub-projects
  • Excited to add creative suggestions
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to direct the business owner through a professional consultation process in order to clearly define the outcome of work
  • Ability to communicate technical web development concepts and pros and cons of options to someone with little experience in this department
  • Able to work with and coach the owner on how to populate and update website information
  • Experience working with entrepreneurs and small businesses
  • Coding knowledge and experience
  • Web design

  • App development
