Website Design, Canada

Position: Website Designer
Project: EcoCooks (a project of Unbounded Canada Foundation)
Location: This position is mainly remote, however preferred if the Website Designer lives in Metro Vancouver or Kelowna for occasional in-person meetings and community events.

Employment Type: Contract for 16 weeks, Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Eligibility: Eligible candidate must be a post-secondary graduate between the age of 15-30, and hold Canadian citizenship, Canadian permanent residency status, or Canadian refugee status.
Reports To: Marketing Manager / Executive Director
Pay: $30/hour
Start Date: Immediate

About EcoCooks

EcoCooks is a collaboration between Unbounded Canada Foundation and Elements Society. Together, we are on a mission to empower youth to take climate action by connecting how our food choices impact the planet. We combine culinary education, food literacy, and environmental science to inspire action from kitchens to communities.

About the Role

We are seeking a creative, tech-savvy, and mission-driven Website Designer to help amplify our message through digital channels. This is a contract position ideal for someone with strong design sensibility, experience in building websites for non-profits, and an understanding of
effective digital storytelling. If you're passionate about food, sustainability, and storytelling, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
Website Development & Design

  • Redesign and maintain EcoCooks’ website.
  • Collaborate with the EcoCooks team to transform existing website and build new pages (campaign microsites, donation gift catalogue) to increase viewership, engagement, donations, become more visually compelling and increase usability.
  • Ensure website SEO best practices, mobile responsiveness, easy and intuitive navigation, accessibility.
  • Track website analytics and provide monthly reports to inform content strategy.

Social Media & Graphic Design
Support Marketing Manager to:

  • Create engaging content across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube).
  • Develop campaigns aligned with key initiatives, seasonal content, and fundraising drive, supporting coordination and promotion of virtual and in-person events and campaigns.
  • Improve engagement, respond to comments/messages, and build relationships with our community.
  • Run Google ads through our nonprofit account
  • Design visual content including infographics, short-form videos, and branded graphics using Canva, or similar tools.
  • Collaborate with program and outreach teams to translate program impact into compelling digital stories.
  • Assist with email marketing campaigns (e.g., newsletters, fundraising appeals) using Mailchimp.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing websites on platforms like Wix, or similar
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Experience in digital marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Proficient in social media platforms and management tools.
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling abilities.
  • Experience with photography, videography, graphic design and video editing.
  • Experience with Google Ads, Analytics and SEO tools.
  • Knowledge of Mail Chimp and email marketing best practices.
  • Familiarity with nonprofits, fundraising, mission-driven communication.
  • Passion for sustainability, environmental justice, or culinary education is a plus.
